SEPT 15: Sadly, Ric Ocasek has passed away at age 75.😢 The iconic frontman of The Cars was found unresponsive in his NYC home earlier today. In addition to his successful career with The Cars, Ocasek had a solo stint and was a sought after producer. In 2018, he along with his band mates were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 
SEPT 16: Today in 1977, Marc Bolan of T Rex was killed in a car crash. The lead singer of the glam rock band was just 29 at the time of his passing. He was signed to Decca Records in 1965. Bolan took to wearing over the top outfits and is often cited as being one of the pioneers of the glam rock genre.
SEPT 17: Today in 1967, The Doors appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. Jim Morrison agrees to sing a revised version of "Light My Fire". The line "Girl, we couldn't get much higher" was to be changed to "Girl, we couldn't get much better." When Morrison performs, he sings the original lyrics and earns himself and The Doors a lifetime ban from the show!
SEPT 18: On this day in 1970, Jimi Hendrix passed away due to asphyxia while intoxicated.😢 During his short career, he was able to make an impact on rock and roll like very few before and since him. At age 15, Hendrix would get his first guitar and soon would be practicing and watching others play. Hendrix made legendary appearances at Woodstock and the Monterey Pop Festival. RIP
SEPT 19: Cass Elliot was born today in 1941. Also known as Mama Cass, she is best known as a member of The Mamas & the Papas. After high school, she pursued her musical dreams in New York. In 1965, she would join The Mamas & the Papas. The group would break up in 1968 and Elliot would enjoy a successful solo career. On July 29, 1974 at age 32 Elliot passed away from a heart attack. RIP😢
SEPT 20: Today in 1973, Gram Parsons of the Byrds body was stolen and burned in Joshua Tree National Monument in California. His wish was to be cremated with his ashes spread in the national park, however his stepfather had organized to have his body sent to Louisiana for burial. Friends stole Parsons from LAX in a borrowed hearse and brought him to the park where they set him on fire. Eventually, his remains were sent to Louisiana.
SEPT 21: Happy birthday to Faith Hill, born today in 1967!🎂🎤 She has sold over 40 million albums. Hill has managed to cross over from the country genre to the pop/adult contemporary genres with multiple hits.
