AUG 7: Sadly, today Dennis Thomas of Kool & the Gang passed away at age 70. Thomas was a founding member of the group. Aug 12: Happy birthday to Mark Knopfler, born today in 1949! The singer-songwriter, musician, and producer is best known for Dire Straits, which he co-founded with his brother. Mark has been solo since 1987. In 2018, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Dire Straits.
