AUG 17: Happy Birthday, Belinda Carlisle!
Today we celebrate the birthday of Belinda Carlisle, one of the most recognizable voices of the pop-rock era! Born August 17, 1958, Belinda first rose to fame as the lead singer of The Go-Go’s, helping make the band one of the most successful all-female rock groups of the early 1980s.
With hits like “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips Are Sealed,” The Go-Go’s became MTV favorites and helped define the sound and style of the decade.
Belinda then launched a hugely successful solo career, scoring major hits including “Mad About You,” “Heaven Is a Place on Earth,” “I Get Weak,” and “Circle in the Sand.” Her 1987 album Heaven on Earth became an international success, cementing her status as a pop superstar.
From punk-influenced rock with The Go-Go’s to polished ’80s pop as a solo artist, Belinda has enjoyed an incredible career spanning decades.

AUG 23: Happy Birthday, Rick Springfield!
Today we’re celebrating the birthday of rock and pop icon Rick Springfield! From his unforgettable 1980s hits to his decades-long career as a singer, songwriter, musician, and actor, Springfield has left an undeniable mark on rock and pop music.
Of course, it’s impossible to talk about Rick without mentioning the massive hit “Jessie’s Girl,” which became a defining song of the early ’80s and earned him a Grammy Award. His catalog also includes favorites like “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” “I’ve Done Everything for You,” and “Love Somebody.”
With his distinctive voice, guitar-driven sound, and energetic performances, Rick Springfield continues to entertain generations of fans. Here’s to celebrating his birthday and an incredible career!
