AUG 25: RIP DOLLY PARTON — 1946–2026
The world has lost one of its brightest stars. Country music legend Dolly Parton has died today, August 25, 2026, at the age of 80.
From humble beginnings in Tennessee to becoming an international superstar, Dolly built a remarkable career as a singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman and philanthropist. Her unforgettable songs—including “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “I Will Always Love You”—became part of the soundtrack of generations.
But Dolly's legacy goes far beyond music. Through her Imagination Library, she helped put millions of books into the hands of children, while her warmth, humor, generosity and unmistakable personality made her beloved around the world.
Dolly Parton wasn't just a country music icon—she was an American original. Her music will live forever.
Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for the music, the memories, and the magic.
