Just a couple of highlights from this week in music history!

JUN 1: Happy birthday to Ronnie Wood! He is one of rock music’s most enduring and versatile guitarists. Born on June 1, 1947, in Hillingdon, he first gained attention in the 1960s as a member of The Birds before achieving greater success with Jeff Beck Group alongside Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart. Wood later joined Faces, where his energetic guitar playing and easygoing personality helped define the group’s rough-and-ready sound.
In 1975, Wood became a member of The Rolling Stones, replacing Mick Taylor. His chemistry with Keith Richards created one of rock’s most celebrated guitar partnerships. Since joining the band, he has contributed to numerous albums and world tours, helping maintain the Stones’ reputation as one of the greatest live acts in music history.
Beyond his work with bands, Wood has released several solo albums showcasing his blues, rock, and rhythm-and-blues influences. He is also an accomplished visual artist whose paintings and drawings have been exhibited internationally, often depicting musicians and scenes from his life on the road.
Known for his distinctive slide guitar style, warm stage presence, and longevity, Ronnie Wood remains a beloved figure in rock music and a key part of the Rolling Stones’ continuing legacy.

JUN 2: Sadly, Peabo Bryson passed away today age 75 after suffering a stroke. Bryson is one of the most accomplished vocalists in contemporary R&B and pop music. Born on April 13, 1951, in Greenville, Bryson built a reputation for his smooth, expressive voice and remarkable ability to blend soul, jazz, and pop influences. He first gained attention in the 1970s with a series of successful R&B recordings, but his popularity expanded significantly during the 1980s and 1990s.
Bryson is especially known for his memorable duets. His collaborations with Roberta Flack, including “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love,” became adult contemporary classics. He also achieved enormous success with Disney soundtrack recordings, winning Grammy Awards for “A Whole New World” from Aladdin with Regina Belle and “Beauty and the Beast” from Beauty and the Beast with Celine Dion. Both songs became international hits and introduced his voice to a new generation of listeners.
Throughout his career, Bryson has released numerous acclaimed albums and charting singles, including “Feel the Fire,” “Can You Stop the Rain,” and “If Ever You're in My Arms Again.” His rich baritone, emotional delivery, and consistency have earned him respect across multiple generations. With decades of success spanning R&B, soul, and pop, Peabo Bryson willl remain one of music’s most beloved and enduring vocal talents.
