JULY 7: Happy birthday to Ringo Starr, born today in 1940!🎂🥁 Ringo is the richest drummer in the world, as he has amassed a $350M fortune. He has beeen inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. In addition his time as a Beatle, he has formed Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band featuring a wide variety of musicians. It would be impossible to use this small space to go through all of his accomplishments!
JULY 7: On this day in 1977, Styx uses the date 7-7-77 to tie in to the release of their 7th album, The Grand Illusion ! Very cool 😎
JULY 8: On this day in 1981, the Go-Go's released their debut album Beauty and the Beat. The significance of this album is that it would eventually go to #1 making it the first #1 album by an all female band to do so!📀🤩
JULY 9: Born today in 1946, Bon Scott of AC/DC. Scott was the group’s lead singer from 1974 until his death in 1980. He performed with a few other bands before joining AC/DC. He and the band found international fame in the late 70’s. Scott passed away on February 19, 1980 due to “acute alcohol poisoning “.
JULY 10: Today in 1965, The Rolling Stones were at #1 with “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”. It was their first time at the top of the charts in the US!📀🎶
JULY 11: Happy 60th birthday to Richie Sambora, born today in 1959!🎂🎸 He was Bon Jovi’s lead guitarist for 30 years. Sambora wasn’t always a guitar player - his first instrument was the accordion! He switched to guitar at age 12 and was heavily influenced by the blues. At age 19, he owned his own independent label, wow! Before joking Bon Jovi, Sambora auditioned to be Ace Frehley’s replacement in KISS. He left Bon Jovi in 2013 to be with family and work on solo projects.
JULY 12: Today in 1971, Carole King was at #1 with “It’s Too Late”. It won the Grammy for Record of the Year in 1972.💿
JULY 13: Today in 1985, Live Aid was held in the UK and US. Did you watch? What were your favorite performances? 🌎🎶❤️
