Jul 13: Happy birthday to Roger McGuinn, born today in 1942!The musician is best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the influential rock band The Byrds. He is renowned for his distinctive jangly guitar sound and innovative use of the 12-string Rickenbacker guitar, which became a defining feature of The Byrds' music.

The Byrds achieved significant success in the mid-1960s with hits like "Mr. Tambourine Man," "Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season)," and "Eight Miles High." The band's blend of folk rock, psychedelia, and early country rock left a lasting impact on popular music, influencing countless artists and shaping the direction of rock and folk music.

McGuinn's career continued after The Byrds disbanded in the early 1970s. He pursued a solo career, releasing several albums and exploring various musical styles, including folk, rock, and country. He has also been involved in numerous collaborative projects and has remained active as a performer and recording artist.

In addition to his musical achievements, McGuinn is known for his interest in technology and the preservation of folk music.
