The week in music history brought to you by MusicGoldmine.com JAN 13: Eric Clapton played his comeback concert today in 1973 at the Rainbow Theatre in London. Pete Townsend of The Who had helped organize the two night concert to help Clapton kick his heroin habit. Others who performed at the concert were Stevie Wonder, Pete Townsend, Ronnie Wood, and others with support from The Average White Band. An intruder broke in and stabbed Harrison in the chest resulting in a collapsed lung and minor wounds. Olivia had tried to ward off the attacker with a poker and a heavy lamp. MAY 19: Happy 70th Birthday to Dusty Hill of ZZ Too, born today in 1949!🎂🎸 Hill along with his brother Rocky and future ZZ Top bandmate Frank Beard played in local bands in the late 1960s. MAY 12: Happy Birthday to Steve Winwood, born today in 1948!🎂🎶 Winwood has been a member of The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and Go. He has had a successful solo career, as well. He began performing with his father at age 8 and was so obviously underage that his piano was turned away from audience view during pub gigs!
