Grateful Dead

MAY 23: Today in 1970, the Grateful Dead played their first gig outside of the U.S. in England. The Hollywood Rock Music Festival featured rock heavyweights Black Sabbath and Free.

Gladys Knight

MAY 28: Happy birthday to Gladys Knight, born today in 1944! She has won seven Grammys and in 1996 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Pips.
