Warren Zevon The Wind RIAA Gold Album Award

RIAA Gold album for Warren Zevon album The Wind. Released on August 26, 2003, the album does not appear in the RIAA's database of certifications, but here it is, presented to a bona fide member of the music industry and Wikipedia also notes in Zevon's bio that the album was certified Gold by the RIAA "in December 2003". Given the construction of the award, presence of a RIAA hologram serial number hologram, the chart and Grammy award success of the album, and the fact that there are other copies of this award out there indicates that perhaps the RIAA database is simply missing this entry.

Zevon's 12th and final album released just prior to his untimely death at age 56, it featured "Disorder in the House", with Zevon on vocals and Bruce Springsteen adding guitar and background vocals. A virtual who's who of other guests also appeared on the album, including Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, Emmylou Harris, Don Henley, David Lindley, Tom Petty, Timothy B. Schmidt, Tommy Shaw, John Waite, Joe Walsh, and Dwight Yoakam. The track won the Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance (Group or Duo). The album reached #12 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and also won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Remember Warren Zevon (1947-2003) with this award.

Notes on the condition of all vintage record awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
