RIAA Platinum Album award for The Doors album The Best Of The Doors. Despite being released on January 1, 1973 and selling very well, the album was not certified Gold for 500,000 copies sold by the RIAA until June 10, 1987. 

The third greatest hits compilation from the group contains seven of the eight Doors' Top 40 hits including "People Are Strange", "Light My Fire", "Love Me Two Times", "Hello, I Love You", "Riders On The Storm", "Love Her Madly" and more. By 2007 the album was certified 10x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for ten million copies sold, making it a rare RIAA Diamond award winner.*

Detailed Item Description: This is an RIAA Gold Album award for The Doors The Best Of The Doors album. It was made in 1987, making it about 39 years old. It is presented to Elektra Records.

The award is in VG to Excellent condition with only minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It has its' original backing board with Creative Glassics manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
