RIAA Gold LP "white matte" award for The Allman Brothers Band album Brothers And Sisters. Released in August 1973, it was certified Gold by the RIAA on August 21, 1973 for one million dollars worth sold. Also included: Sept. 1, 1973 Record World Album Chart plaque with Brothers And Sisters at #1.
The album reached #1 on the Billboard Top LP's and Tapes chart on the strength the classic singles "Ramblin' Man", which reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Jessica", a rare instrumental hit. The last album to feature Berry Oakley on bass (on two tracks) due to his untimely death at age 24, which was sadly reminiscent of Duane Allman's fatal motorcycle accident from a year earlier. Due to these deaths, Greg Allman and Dickie Betts played more major roles on this album both vocally and in terms of songwriting. By 1995 the album had been certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold.*

Record World, Billboard, and CashBox Album/Single Charts were often made into plaques for radio and music industry people. This one that is included is dated Sept. 1, 1973 and shows this Allman Brothers album at #1. It has other interesting entries in the top 10 as well including Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon, and great albums from artists including Grand Funk, Diana Ross, Jethro Tull, Sly & The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, and more. Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
