Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold LP white matte award would have been made in 1966 given the album's certification date. The award's most spectacular feature is undoubtedly that it is presented to Stones bassist Bill Wyman, who also personally owned the award.

The award is approx. 57 years old yet is in Very Good condition, especially considering its age. There are some typical scratches on the frame but the matte, presentation plate, gold disc, record label and album miniature are all in Excellent condition. The back of this award has a piece of thin hardboard added to accommodate four circular wall-mounting hooks. Wyman is known as a detail-oriented collector and archivist of his lifetime of Stones memorabilia so it is likely that these were installed in order to  fix it securely to a display wall. The award remains in the same condition as when Wyman owned it and has not been altered.

Don't miss this is a rare opportunity to acquire a coveted all-original RIAA white matte award for one of the Rolling Stones classic early releases, complete with spectacular presentation to the Stones Bill Wyman himself. Wyman was the Stones bassist from 1962 through 1993, playing on countless classic Stones albums and touring the world for three decades. He also released six solo albums from 1974-2015 and formed Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings in 1997, with which he has recorded six albums and toured. The group has featured a cast of well-known music figures on its albums including Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Mark Knopfler, Albert Lee, Ringo Starr, former Stones bandmate Mick Taylor and many others.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
