Mid-1960s "gold" label award (i.e. non-RIAA) made by Disc Award Ltd. recognizing success of Ramsey Lewis Trio track "The In Crowd" presented to Ramsey Lewis. The title track of the trio's successful 1965 album was recorded live at the Bohemian Caverns nightclub in Washington, D.C. The track reached #2 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart and #5 on the Hot 100 chart. It helped drive the album to #1 on the R&B Album chart and #2 on the Top 100 Album tally. Remember Ramsey Lewis (1935-2022) and fellow trio members Eldee Young (1936-2007) and Isaac "Redd" Holt (1932-2023) with this award.

The award is presented to the Ramsey Lewis Trio. The award is all original including having the early style Disc Award Ltd. logo engraved on the "gold" disc, engraved plate, and black felt matte.
The award is in VG condition, despite its 60+ year old age. Although it has the usual nicks and mars on the frame and some minor defects on the record label which were likely caused at some point in the past when the record came dislodged and the award was repaired. It has its' original wood back with "Disc Award Ltd" stamp and serial number which, while faded, is still visible. The back has been retaped.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
