RIAA Platinum Album award for Pink Floyd album Dark Side Of The Moon. Released on April 17, 1973, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on Feb. 16, 1990 for one million copies sold. Pink Floyd awards are hard to find. Remember Pink Floyd keyboardist/vocalist Richard Wright (1943-2008) with this award.
The legendary album included two singles, "Money" and "Us and Them", although most have enjoyed the album in its' thematic entirety. The album went to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and many other charts, including those in Austria, Canada, France, and Italy. Detailed Item Description: This is a RIAA Platinum award that was manufactured in 1990, making it approx. 36 years old. It is presented to Kent Rippey, who was a promotion executive with record retailer The Musicland Group (Sam Goody and Musicland) and later a VP of Marketing at Atlantic Records. A provenance letter signed by Rippey is included with the item (see image).
This award is all original and in VG to Excellent condition with only very minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It is all original with only the hanger replaced and while the manufacturer sticker has fallen off the backing board, the award's construction and the size, shape and location of sticker adhesive residue indicate it was made by Creative Glassics.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
