RIAA Platinum Award for Nirvana's With The Lights Out CD/DVD box set. Released on Nov. 23, 2004, it was certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold on Dec. 17, 2004.*

This triple CD/DVD release contained rare or unreleased material, B-sides, demos, rehearsal and live recordings. The album's title comes from Nirvana's massive debut hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit." In addition to all the group's hits, it included an acoustic demo of the previously unreleased track "You Know You're Right". The album rose to #19 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, #56 on the UK chart, and it also charted in many other countries around the world.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Platinum award was manufactured in 2004 making it approximately 21 years old. It is presented to well-known mastering engineer Bob Ludwig, who mastered this album along with others from artists ranging from AC/DC to Def Leppard and Rush to Dire Straits, Toto, the Rolling Stones, and many others.

This award is in Excellent condition, with only a minor mar or two on the frame. It is all original with Ill-Eagle Enterprises manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
