RIAA Platinum LP award for Mötley Crüe album Shout At The Devil. Released as the Crüe's second studio album on Sept. 23, 1983, it was certified Platinum by the RIAA on Feb. 7, 1984 for one million copies sold.

"Looks That Kill" and "Too Young to Fall in Love" were released as singles and both charted, while the title track became a fan favorite. It also includes a cover of Beatles song "Helter Skelter". The album reached #17 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and it also charted in Canada and Australia. By 1997 the album had been certified 4x Multi-Platinum by the RIAASee image above for the RIAA sales certifications of this album through the years*.

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum award that would have been manufactured in 1984 making it approx. 38 years old. The award is presented to Tom Zutaut, an A&R executive with Elektra and Geffen Records who famously signed Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses, Dokken, Tesla, Edie Brickell, Enya, and others. Guns N’ Roses Appetite For Destruction RIAA 10x Multi-Platinum LP Award

This award is in VG condition. It was made by the New York Frame & Picture Co. and consists of all original internal components and frame, but its' plexiglass front has been replaced with real glass, making for clear, scratchless viewing of the award, and it has thus also been rebacked.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
