RIAA Gold Album Award for Lou Reed album New York. Released on Jan. 10, 1989, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA on Sept. 9, 1997 for 500,000 copies sold. Remember Lou Reed (1942-2013) with this award.

Reed's fifteenth solo studio album produced the hit single "Dirty Blvd.", which topped the newly created Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. Drummer Moe Tucker from Reed's alma mater group Velvet Underground appears on a pair of tracks playing percussion. Also, Dion DiMucci provided backing vocals on "Dirty Blvd". The album reached #40 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and #14 on the UK Albums chart and also charted in Australia, New Zealand, and most of Europe.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold Album award was manufactured in 1998, making it approx. 28 years old. It is presented to Howie Klein, who founded 415 records, was a VP at Sire Records, and president of Reprise/Warner Bros. Records.

This award is in Excellent condition. It is all original with Milestone Awards & Marketing manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
