RIAA Platinum LP award for Living Colour album Vivid. Released on May 2, 1988, the album was certified Platinum for one million copies sold on April 17, 1989.

The release included the blistering hit that broke the group worldwide: "Cult Of Personality" which rose to #13 on Billboard Hot 100 won a Grammy award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1989. The album itself peaked at #6 on the Top 200 Albums chart. Lesser-known facts are that Chuck D, Flavor Flav and Mick Jagger all appeared on the album, with Jagger having produced a pair of tracks as well. Detailed Item Description: 

This is an original first presentation RIAA award from around 1989, making it about 32 years old. The award is presented to Right Track Recording in NYC, at which the album was recorded. 

It is in VG condition and only a few very minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It has its' original back and while missing, it has an adhesive mark in the size, shape and location of a Creative Glassics manufacturer's sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
