RIAA Platinum Album award for Heart album Dreamboat Annie. Released in Sept. 1975, it was certified Platinum by the RIAA on Nov. 5, 1976 for one million copies sold.
This was the group's debut studio album and it featured the classic title track and other singles "Crazy on You", and "Magic Man". The radio airplay helped the album to #7 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. The album also did well in Canada (where it was first released on Mushroom Canada, going double platinum) and other countries including Australia, Japan, and the Netherlands. Detailed Item Description: This is a RIAA Platinum award that would have been manufactured in 1976-77 making it about 47-48 years old. It is presented to Dana Morris, who was at the time promotion executive who worked with numerous record labels. A notarized letter of provenance from the recipient is included with this award (see image).
The facts that the phrase "It's In The Wax To The Max" and matching matrix number (MRS-5005-A) are engraved in the dead wax area of the platinum record disc (just as on the actual vinyl album), and there are also the exact number and length of tracks on the record prove that the platinum disc is the actual Heart metal mother disc. This is a rarity among RIAA awards since most often metal masters from titles other than the one the award recognizes were used. The award is in VG condition with minor fading of the album miniature and matte, wear on the frame and a few mars on the plexiglass. This award is all original and while it has been rebacked, its' construction details show that it was made by Creative Glassics.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
