RIAA Gold Album award for Hall & Oates album Voices. Released on July 29, 1980, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA on Oct. 25, 1981 for 500,000 copies sold. 

The ninth album from the duo produced numerous hits including "Kiss On My List", which went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a Gold single, "How Does It Feel to Be Back", "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'", and "You Make My Dreams". While not released as a single "Everytime You Go Away" also appeared on the release, later becoming a #1 hit for Paul Young. The album peaked at #17 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and by 1982 was certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold Album award was manufactured in 1982, making it approximately 43 years old. It is presented to The Hit Factory® recording studio owner, the late Ed Germano, who owned the facility since 1975. Parts of the album were done at the studio.

This award is in Good to VG condition with minor mottling on the bottom left corner of the matte, frame wear and mars on the plexiglass. It has its' original backing paper with and while its' manufacturer label is missing, the construction details indicate it was made by Creative Glassics.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
