RIAA Platinum LP award for Foreigner album Agent Provocateur, which was released on Jan. 28, 1985. On Feb. 11, 1985 the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold.
The album produced "I Want To Know What Love Is", a worldwide hit which became Foreigner's only #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the UK Singles chart, and "That Was Yesterday", which peaked at #12. The album reached #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart while topping the UK, German, Swedish and other charts, It scored high chart positions in Australia and Canada as well. By 2000 the album was certified 3x Multi-Platinum for three million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum album award that would have been manufactured in 1985, making it approx. 40 years old. It is presented to The Hit Factory®, the recording studio in New York City where the album was pieced together and recorded, along with studio owner the late Ed Germano, who owned the facility since 1975.
The award is in VG condition with a couple of scratches/finish loss on the frame (see top rail in particular in image) and mars on the plexiglass. This award was reframed at some point. The presentation plate design indicates it is a Creative Glassics-made award.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
