RIAA Platinum Album Award for Depeche Mode album Violator. Released on March 20, 1990, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on May 22, 1990 for one million copies sold.

The album contained massive worldwide hits "Personal Jesus" and "Enjoy the Silence" along with "Policy of Truth" and "World in My Eyes". The album reached #7 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and #2 in the U.K. It also charted in many other countries worldwide with notable success across all of Europe, Canada, and Australia. By 1996 the album had been certified 3x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for three million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This is a RIAA Platinum Album award that was manufactured in 1990, making it approximately 36 years old. It is presented to radio program director Russ Allen and Philadelphia station WIOQ.

The award is in VG condition with only minor mars on the frame (including a small chip on the inside back of the bottom frame rail) and plexiglass, and some cosmetic surface tears on the backing board. The award is all original although the plexiglass was replaced with an original from a same-era 90s RIAA award. The award has its' original manufacturer sticker from Fitzgerald Hartley.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
