RIAA Gold Album Award for Def Leppard album High 'n' Dry. Released on July 21, 1981, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 copies sold on Dec. 17, 1982. Remember late Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark (1960-1991) with this award.
The group's second album produced notable hits "Let It Go", which reached #34 on the Billboard Rock Tracks chart, and "Bringin' On the Heartbreak". The album peaked at #38 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and #26 on UK chart and re-entered the charts again after the success of the group's Pyromania album. By 1992 the album was certified 2x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for two million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This is a RIAA Gold Album award that was manufactured in 1983, making it about 42 years old. It is presented to Joanie Turnbull, who worked worked with Def Leppard, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N' Roses, Mötley Crüe, and other artists when working with artist managers/companies Q Prime, Sharon Osbourne, Doc McGhee, and Big FD Entertainment. A letter of provenance from Joanie Veage (née Turnbull) will be provided with purchase (see image).
The award is all original and in Good to VG condition with minor wear on the frame and mars on the plexiglass, and some tarnishing of the gold record disc. It has its' original backing paper although it has been cut on three sides to perform a minor internal repair. Adhesive residue on the backing paper in the correct size and location of a New York Frame & Picture Co. manufacturer label along with the award's construction indicate that it was made by that company.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
