RIAA Gold Award for the Chicago album The Heart of Chicago 1967-1997. Released on April 22, 1997, the album went Gold for 500,000 copies sold on Oct. 16, 1997.

This greatest hits retrospective album included songs from early to late Chicago as the title implies, with tracks including everything from "Saturday in the Park", "Wishing You Were Here", and "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" to "You're the Inspiration", "If You Leave Me Now", "Hard Habit to Break", "Look Away" and more. The album reached #55 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and #21 in the U.K.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold Album award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured sometime in 1998 making this award approximately 25 years old. It is presented to well-known radio personality and executive Scott Shannon from Pirate Radio KQLZ Los Angeles, Z100 New York and many other stations. A letter of provenance from Shannon will be provided with purchase as seen in images.

The award is in VG to Excellent condition, with only a very minor mar or two on the frame and plexiglass. The award is all original with Fitzgerald Hartley manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
