RIAA Gold Album Award for 3 Doors Down album The Better Life. Released on Feb. 8, 2000, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA on April 18, 2000 for 500,000 copies sold.

This award represents the very first major success for the band with their debut album. It produced the hits "Kryptonite", "Loser", and "Be Like That", all of which landed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with "Kryptonite" reaching #3. The album reached #7 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and also charted in many other countries. By 2020 the album was certified 7x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for seven million copies sold, making it the group's most successful album.*

Detailed Item Description: This is a RIAA Gold Album award that was manufactured in 2000, making it approx. 26 years old. It is presented to Curtiss Johnson, a former radio industry executive who worked at various California stations including KRXQ in Sacramento. 

This award, which features a solid wood matte, is in VG condition with only very minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It also has its' original Ill Eagle Enterprises manufacturer sticker. The original hanger has been replaced with a new wire hanger.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
