RIAA triple Platinum album award for Stone Temple Pilots Core album, which was released on Sept. 14, 1992. It was certified 3x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA on Feb. 8, 1994. This is an impressively-large triple Platinum award utilizes full size LPs in an era when many awards were made with cassettes and CDs.
The album included hits "Plush" "Creep" and "Sex Type Thing" and the album hit #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. "Plush" also won the group a Grammy in 1993 for Best Hard Rock Performance. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum award that was manufactured in 1994 or 95 making this award 25-26 years old. It is unusual in that it is a very large and impressive award featuring three full size LPs and a black velvet matte. Very rock and roll considering many awards of the "R hologram" era featured only cassettes, CDs or at most a single LP. It is presented to Dave Mount, who served as Chairman/CEO of WEA (Warner/Elektra/Atlantic) Records from 1993 to 2002.
The two outside LPs are side A and the middle is side B of the album. The award appears to be completely unaltered and is in Excellent condition. The backing paper is original, complete with Ill Eagle manufacturer's sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
