RIAA Gold LP award for Simply Red album Men And WomenThe album was released on March 9, 1987 and while this is a RIAA award made by Fitzgerald Hartley, there is no certification in the RIAA database for this album. This could be an error in the database or it is possible that an error was made in producing the award. In that it is presented to the then Sr. VP of Marketing for Elektra Entertainment and the album was very successful worldwide, it is unlikely that Gold level sales did not occur in the U.S..

The second studio for Mick Hucknall and crew, five singles were released from the album, including "The Right Thing", which peaked at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100, and #11 on the UK Singles Chart, along with "Infidelity", "Maybe Someday...", and Cole Porter song cover "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye". The album peaked at #31 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart, #2 on the UK chart and placed highly on many other world charts

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
