RIAA Platinum Album award for Eurythmics album Be Yourself Tonight. Released on April 29, 1985, the album went Platinum for one million copies sold on Sept. 13, 1985. 

The album produced several hits including "Would I Lie To You?", "It's Alright (Baby's Comin' Back)", "There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)",and "Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves". The latter was a duet with Aretha Franklin and the album also included guest appearances from Elvis Costello and Stevie Wonder. It reached #9 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart, #3 on the UK, #1 in Australia and scored many other chart positions worldwide. Detailed Item Description: This is an official RIAA Platinum album award made in 1985 making it 37 years old. The award is presented to A&R executive and original Zombies guitarist Paul Atkinson (1946-2004). Atkinson was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 as a member of the Zombies and in addition to Eurythmics also worked with Elton John, ABBA, Bruce Hornsby, Judas Priest and others.

The award is in VG condition with only minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. The backing paper is original with late-period New York Frame & Picture Co. label.

These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
