RIAA Platinum album award for Bob Welch album French Kiss presented to Christine McVie. Released on Sept. 16, 1977, the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA on May 1, 1978 for one million copies sold. Remember Christine McVie (1943-2022) with this award.

Former Fleetwood Mac member Bob Welch stayed connected to his former Mac bandmate Christine McVie on this, his first solo album. McVie's contributions were most visible on Billboard Hot 100 #8 hit single "Sentimental Lady", on which she sings a prominent vocal chorus coda line and plays keyboards. Welch originally recorded the track with Fleetwood Mac for their 1972 album Bare Trees. Fleetwood Mac's Lindsay Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood also appear on the Welch solo album version. Powered by that track and "Ebony Eyes", the album hit #12 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum album award from 1978, making it approx. 45 years old. It is presented to the late Christine McVie. McVie and Welch were members of Fleetwood Mac and when Welch left the band to create his solo album he had McVie (along with Mick Fleetwood and Lindsay Buckingham) play and sing on his album. This award was acquired in a sale of McVie's personal awards and other items held in 2022.

It is in VG condition with typical frame wear, a slight lift on the top of record label on the disc, and some backing paper tears. Its' backing paper is original with Creative Glassics manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
