Big Bad Voodoo Daddy Americana Deluxe RIAA Gold Award

Regular price $325

Unique RIAA Gold Album award for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's Americana Deluxe. The album was released on Feb. 24, 1998. This is the first Gold award the album (and group) earned with the album certified on Aug. 3, 1998 for 500,000 copies sold.

This was the second studio effort from the Swing revival group. Featuring a remake of Cab Calloway's 1931 tune "Minnie the Moocher" along with original tunes in the same style, including one of their most popular, "You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)", the album became the group's best-selling. While not showing a title on the album art and indicated as self-titled in RIAA certification records, the release is actually entitled Americana Deluxe, according to the group's website. By early 1999 the album reached Platinum RIAA sales status for over 1 million copies sold. See image above for all the RIAA sales certifications of this album.*

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Gold award that would have been manufactured sometime around 1998 making this award 23 years old. This award is presented to Jonathan Lev, a promotions and marketing executive who worked with rock, pop and alternative artists including Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Linkin Park, Godsmack, Incubus, Nirvana, U2, Pearl Jam, Coldplay, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more.

This unique and colorful award is all original complete with Ill-Eagle manufacturer's sticker on its back. It is in VG to Excellent condition, with only a few minor mars on the frame, and a few minor, cosmetic-only splits on the outer edge of a couple of the bamboo-like wood frame corners.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
