RIAA 3x Multi-Platinum Award for The Offspring album Smash. Released on April 8, 1994, it was certified 3x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA on Dec. 5, 1994 for three million copies sold.
The California-based group's third album produced the singles "Come Out and Play", "Self Esteem", and "Gotta Get Away" and reached #4 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. It also reached the top ten in many other countries. By 2000, the album was certified 6x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for six million copies sold. Detailed Item Description: This RIAA 3x Multi-Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured in 1994 making it 30 years old. The award is presented to Lee Abrams at Z-Rock (misspelt "Abrahms"), who worked in radio and as a consultant to major record labels and industry companies including Capitol Records, Island Records, XM Radio, MTV and others from the 70s into the 2000s. A notarized letter of provenance from Abrams is included with this award (see image).
The award is in Good to VG condition with only frame wear (including a chip on the back side of the right frame rail--see image) and mars on the plexiglass. This award is all original with Dejay Products manufacturer stickers.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
