RIAA Platinum LP award for the Rolling Stones Steel Wheels presented to Mick Jagger. The album was released on August 25, 1989 and was certified Platinum by the RIAA on Oct. 27, 1989 for one million copies sold. The award is presented to Mick Jagger.
The album notable in that it was the last recorded with long-time bassist Bill Wyman. It produced a pair of hits, "Mixed Emotions," which rose to #1 in Canada and #5 in the U.S., and "Rock and a Hard Place," which went to #23 in the U.S.. The album went to #3 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, #2 in the U.K. and #1 in Canada. Later in 1990 the release was certified 2x Multi-Platinum. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Platinum award that would have been manufactured in 1990. That makes this award approx. 29 years old.
This award appears to be in completely unaltered and is in excellent condition, with only a very, very minor scratch or two on the frame and a few mars on the plexiglas. It is a rare award in that it is presented to legendary Stones front man Mick Jagger. Artist presentations are considered the most desirable by collectors.
This award has its original back with Creative Glassics manufacturer sticker attached. It does have a few streaks of what appears to be paint on the backing paper. These are not visible from the front or sides of the piece. It also has what looks like a past auction house or dealer sticker on the back as well. The auction house/dealer is not identified on the sticker. We have not removed the sticker since it looks removing would damage the backing paper.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
