Rolling Stones Out Of Our Heads RIAA Gold LP Award

RIAA Gold LP award for the Rolling Stones Out Of Our Heads. The album was released on July 1, 1965. While quickly going Gold by October 12, 1965, the release was not certified Platinum by the RIAA until 25 years later. This is likely because the label had not filed the paperwork proving the sales levels with the RIAA until that time, since the album was a career-defining launch point for the Stones.

The album is notable in that it contained the Stones first major hit "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", which went to #1 as a single across much of the world, along with "The Last Time" and several covers of R&B tunes. The album topped the Billboard Top Albums chart and hit #2 on the U.K. album chart.

Detailed Item Description: This is a RIAA Gold award that would have been manufactured in 1989-90, making it approx. 30 years old. It is presented to London Records.

This award is in VG condition, with only a minor mar or two on the frame, including a couple of small chips on the back edge of the frame. It has had its original back covered with a stronger backing board and it has two pairs of side mounting holes, which is a mounting method consistent with what we've seen on awards that have been displayed in the U.K. However, where this award was displayed is not known.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.

Finally, a word on photos: Our photos are zoomable so you can get a very good look. Do let us know if you want photos of any other details on our pieces and we'll be happy to provide.
