RIAA Gold LP award for Rod Stewart's A Night On The Town album, which was released on June 18, 1976. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on October 20, 1976 for 500,000 copies sold.
This album is most famous for #1 Billboard Hot 100 hit "Tonight's the Night (Gonna Be Alright)", which was somewhat controversial at the time, along with a cover of Cat Stevens' "The First Cut Is The Deepest" and "The Killing Of Georgie (Part I and II)", both of which also garnered airplay. The album itself went to #2 in the U.S. and #1 in the U.K. By 1984 the album was certified 2x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Gold award that would have been manufactured in 1976, since this "floater" style award was produced from 1975-81. This makes this an earlier floater and the award 44 years old.
The award is presented to Joe Robb, owner of Cherokee Studios in Hollywood, California, where the album was recorded. This award is in VG condition, with some typical scratches and mars on the frame. Its' backing paper is original with New York Frame & Picture Co. sticker intact.

These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear.
