RIAA Gold Single award for Pointer Sisters hit "He's So Shy". Released on July 23, 1980 it was certified Gold by the RIAA on Nov. 25, 1980 for one million copies sold. Remember June Pointer (1953-2006) with this award.
The track, which appeared on the Pointer Sisters Special Things album, hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, #1 in New Zealand and also charted in many other countries. The track also ended up becoming the group's first for a music video as well.

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Gold Single award from 1980, making it approx. 43 years old. It is presented to artist manager Burt Zell, who managed the group along with other artists including Chaka Kahn.
It is VG condition with only typical frame wear The award's backing paper is original and while the sticker is missing, adhesive residue in the size, shape and location is present consistent with that of a New York Frame & Picture Co. manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
