RIAA Platinum Award for Nirvana's With The Lights Out CD/DVD box set. Released on Nov. 23, 2004, it was certified Platinum by the RIAA for 1 million copies sold on Dec. 17, 2004.

This triple CD/DVD release contained rare or unreleased material, B-sides, demos, rehearsal and live recordings. The album's title comes from Nirvana's massive debut hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The album rose to #19 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and #56 on the UK chart.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured in 2004 making this award approximately 16 years old. This award is presented to music executive Marco Vasquez. It is not known what role Vasquez played in the creation or promotion of the release.

It is all original with back with, Ill-Eagle manufacturer's sticker and all correct components. This award is in excellent condition, with only a minor mar or two on the frame (see images).

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
