RIAA 9x Multi-Platinum Album Award for Mariah Carey's Music Box album which was released on Aug. 20, 1993. It was certified 9x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA on Jan. 29, 1996 for nine million copies sold.
Ultra successful, the album produced three Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles for Carey including "Dreamlover", "Hero" and "Without You", the latter cover of the Badfinger tune becoming her most successful international #1 to date. The album also topped the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and repeated this feat in numerous other countries, becoming Carey's most successful album to date. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA 9x Multi-Platinum album award that would have been manufactured in 1996 when this "R hologram" style of RIAA award was made (1990-97). That makes this award approx. 25 years old. The award is presented to Simon Andrews, owner of Right Track Recording in NYC, where the album was recorded in part.
The award is in Very Good condition some mars on the frame and plexiglass. It has its' original backing paper and Ill-Eagle manufacturer's sticker, with a few tears in the backing paper taped to help prevent further dust intrusion. The award has minor spotting/dust inside the plexiglass. *NOTE: Upon buyer request at no additional charge, this award can be professionally dismantled and cleaned inside. Original backing paper with manufacturer label will remain attached on one side and be taped on other three sides. Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
