RIAA Gold 45 award for Loggins and Messina hit "Your Mama Don't Dance". The track was released in November 1972 and certified Gold® by the RIAA on March 7, 1973 for 500,000 copies sold. It is presented to an original member of the Loggins and Messina band, sax player Jon Clarke, who played the memorable baritone sax solo on the record.
Written by duo members Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina, the track hit #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1973 and also went to the Top 10 in Canada while charting in other world markets as well. Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold 45 single award is presented to sax and woodwind player for Loggins and Messina Jon Clarke. After the group's breakup, the late Clarke went on to record many soundtracks and other session work.
The award appears to have been made in 1973 given its certification date (white matte style awards were produced from 1964-74) making it 46 years old. The award is in VG to Excellent condition considering its age with an original backing paper and manufacturer's sticker. There are a few minor scratches on the frame (see detail images) and very slight disc discoloration as is common but the matte board and presentation plate are in very good condition.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
