RIAA Gold 45 "white matte" award for Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love". The track was released on Nov. 7, 1969 and certified Gold by the RIAA on April 13, 1970 for one million copies sold.

The lead off track on the band's second album, Led Zeppelin II, the track became one the biggest hits of Zeppelin's career. It charted in the top 5 in most major music markets worldwide, is in the Grammy Hall of Fame, and on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, among many other top lists. Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold single award was made in 1970. The award is presented to Atlantic Records. The award is 52 years old and yet is in VG condition. One can see the "1,000,000" engraved in the dead wax area of this record, signifying the number of copies sold, which is seen sometimes on early awards with metal mother discs like this one. There are a few mars on the wood frame as is expected. The award has its' original backing paper with New York Frame & Picture Co. manufacturer sticker.

Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
