RIAA Gold 45 "white matte" award for Johnnie Taylor track "Who's Making Love", which was released in 1968 and certified Gold by the RIAA on Nov. 15, 1968 for one million copies sold.

The track was Taylor's breakthrough hit, reaching #1 on the Billboard R&B chart and #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The musicians on the recording were Stax house band Booker T. & the M.G.'s and Isaac Hayes, the latter on keyboards. See image above for the RIAA sales certification info on this single*.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold single award was made in 1968 making it about 55 years old. It is presented to John O'Brien Distribution, a record distributor.

This award is in VG condition, especially for a 55-year-old award, with some typical wear and mars on the wood frame. The award is all original, complete with New York Picture & Frame Co. manufacturer label.

Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear.
