Jimi Hendrix Experience Hendrix: The Best Of Jimi Hendrix RIAA Gold Album Award. Released on Nov. 3, 1998 the album was certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 copies sold on Oct. 13, 1999.
The album contained a raft of Hendrix classics including "Hey Joe", "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)", "Crosstown Traffic", "Purple Haze", "All Along the Watchtower", and more. The album charted in the U.S., UK and various other countries. By 2006 the album was certified 2x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for two million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold Album award was manufactured in 1999, making it 25 years old. It is presented to producer and record executive Andy McKaie.
The award has some minor frame and plexiglass mars (including minor chips on the corners of the frame), but is generally in Very Good condition with its' unique purple velvet covered matte. The Jimi Hendrix image has slight lifting at the top edge but the award presents nicely. It has its' original backing paper with Jewel Box Platinum manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
