RIAA Gold LP award for Ice-T album Power. Released on Sept. 13, 1988, it was certified Gold by the RIAA on Nov. 22, 1988 for 500,000 copies sold.
Two singles were released from the album, "I'm Your Pusher" (which began a feud of sorts with artist LL Cool J) and "High Rollers". Power album peaked at #35 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums and #6 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts. It also sold well in Australia and Canada where it also achieved gold certification. After his time as a solo artist and later with group Body Count, Ice-T built a career over the last 20 years portraying a cop on the TV series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Gold award that would have been manufactured in 1988, making it 35 years old. The award is presented to record label executive Bob Merlis, who was at the time Senior VP of Worldwide Corporate Communications at Warner Bros.
The award is in VG condition with only typical frame wear and a few mars on the plexiglass. It has its original back with Fitzgerald Hartley manufacturer sticker.

These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, record retailers, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
