RIAA Gold Album Award for the Heavy D & the Boyz album Peaceful Journey. Released on July 2, 1991, the album went Gold for 500,000 copies sold on Sept. 6, 1991, which this award celebrates. Remember Dwight "Heavy D" Arrington Myers (1967-2011) with this award.

The album featured a cover of The O'Jays Gamble and Huff-penned track "Now That We Found Love (feat. Aaron Hall)" which reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, along with "Is It Good to You (Heavy D)", "Don't Curse", and "Peaceful Journey". The album peaked at #21 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. By early 1992 the album was certified Platinum for one million copies sold by the RIAA. Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold album award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured sometime in 1991 making it approximately 33 years old. It is presented to a former radio program director. Their name has been obscured only in the photos for privacy. A letter of provenance from the recipient will be provided with purchase. Provenance letter can be seen in images with executive's name obscured for privacy. Item buyer will receive a non-obscured copy of the letter.

This award is in VG condition, with only minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It is all original with Dejay Products manufacturer stickers on its backing paper.

These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

    As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
