RIAA Platinum Award for A Perfect Circle album Mer de Noms (French for "Sea of Names"). Released on May 23, 2000, the album went Platinum for one million copies sold on Oct. 31, 2000, which this award celebrates.

Formed by Tool leader Maynard James Keenan after he heard former guitar tech and guitarist Billy Howerdel's songs, the pair gathered a group of veteran musicians to create the lineup. The buzz around the group's debut was such that the album debuted at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. the highest debut by a rock band ever at the time. Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured sometime in 2000 making this award approximately 24 years old. It is presented to a former marketing and promotion executive who worked at EMI Capitol Records. Their name has been obscured in the photos only for privacy. A letter of provenance from the recipient will be provided with purchase. Provenance letter can be seen in images with executive's name obscured for privacy. Item buyer will receive a non-obscured copy of the letter.

This award is in VG condition, with only minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It is all original with Jewel Box Platinum manufacturer's sticker on its back.

These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

    As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
