RIAA Platinum Album Award for System Of A Down albums Mezmerize and Hypnotize. Released on May 17 and Nov. 2, 2005 respectively, the albums were both certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold on Aug. 16 and Dec. 13, 2005 respectively.
Singles "B.Y.O.B.", which won the group a Grammy award for Best Hard Rock Performance, and "Question!" drove sales of Mezmerize. "Lonely Day", "Vicinity of Obscenity", and the title track of Hypnotize were singles that helped that album to success. Both albums topped the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, a rare feat that is mentioned on this award as well. The albums also charted well in the U.K., Europe, Australia and New Zealand. By 2022 Mezmerize was certified 2x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for two million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This very large and impressive RIAA Platinum Combo Album award was manufactured in 2005-06, making it approximately 19-20 years old. It is presented to Marco Soccoli and drum stick maker Vic Firth. Soccoli was a drummer and Director of Artist Relations for musical instrument/gear manufacturers Vic Firth, D'Addario, Evans, Promark, Sonor, Mapex, and others.
The award is in VG condition, with only a very minor mar or two on the plexiglass and frame (including a very small chip on the back of one frame corner). It is all original with an Ill-Eagle Enterprises manufacturer sticker.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good" wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
