RIAA 5x Multi-Platinum Album award for MC Hammer's album Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em. It was released on Feb. 12, 1990 and was certified 5x Multi-Platinum on Aug. 30, 1990 for five million copies sold.
The album went to #1 and stayed there for 21 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, mainly based on the strength of the single "U Can't Touch This". It also went to #8 on the UK chart. Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA 5x Multi-Platinum award that would have been manufactured in 1990, making it 33 years old. It is presented to Steve Leeds, a music industry executive who held roles as SVP Promotion at Virgin Records, MTV, and later SiriusXM.
This award is in VG to Excellent condition with very minor frame and plexiglass wear. Has been rebacked and hanger changed.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
