RIAA Gold Album Award for Luther Vandross album I Know. Released on Aug. 11, 1998, it was certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 copies sold on Dec. 3, 1998.* Remember Luther Vandross (1951-2005) with this award.
This album featured the title track, which garnered two Grammy nominations -- for Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. Cassandra Wilson, Guru, Stevie Wonder, Brandy, Marcella Precise and Bob James all guested on the album. The release reached #26 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. It also charted in the UK and Europe.

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Gold Album award was manufactured in 1999, making it approx. 26 years old. It is presented to The Hit Factory® recording studio and its' owner, the late Ed Germano, who owned the facility since 1975. Parts of the album were recorded at the studio.
This award is in Good to VG condition with frame wear, including a small chip on the inner edge of the top frame rail, and minor mars on the plexiglass. It is all original with Ill Eagle Enterprises manufacturer sticker. The numbered sticker on the back of the award is an inventory number from the recording studio.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
