RIAA Platinum Album Award for the Aaliyah album One In A MillionThe album was released on Aug. 5, 1996 and certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold on Feb. 5, 1997. Remember Aaliyah (1979-2001) with this award.

Aaliyah's second album included Billboard Hot 100 top 10 single "The One I Gave My Heart To", along with "If Your Girl Only Knew", "Got to Give It Up", "4 Page Letter", "Hot Like Fire" and the title track. The album peaked at #18 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, #2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and also did well in Canada, Japan, the UK, and several European countries. By later in 1997 the album was certified 2x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for two million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This RIAA Platinum Album award was made in 1997, making it about 28 years old. It is presented to a The Hit Factory® recording studio facility in New York City, along with its owner Ed Germano.

The award is in VG condition with only very minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. It is all original although the manufacturer sticker has been torn off. The numbered sticker on the back of the award is an inventory number from the recording studio, mastering facility or other.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
