RIAA 3x Multi-Platinum Award for Red Hot Chili Peppers album Californication. Released on June 8, 1999, the album went 3x Multi-Platinum for three million copies sold on March 28, 2000, which this award celebrates.
In addition to the popular title track, singles from the release included "Otherside", "Around The World", "Parallel Universe", and "Scar Tissue" which won the group a Grammy award. The album peaked at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart (and remained on the chart for 101 continuous weeks) and #5 on the UK chart. Detailed Item Description: This RIAA 3x Multi-Platinum award is a first presentation award that would have been manufactured sometime in 2000 making this award approximately 23 years old. It is presented to Jeff McClusky & Associates (spelt incorrectly on the plaque), a long time independent record promoter that worked with many record labels.
The award is all original but has been rebacked. It is in VG to Excellent condition, with only a very minor mar or two on the frame and plexiglass.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.
As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home.
